Group reservations should be made at least one to two months in advance. Larger groups should consider making their reserving up to six months in advance given the larger number of people attending. We define a group as any number over ten guests. Snowy Owl Sled Dog Tours are capable of accommodating almost any size of group.
Our sled configurations are based on offering our guests the option of driving their own dog team. Each sled is pulled by 6 to 8 of our beautiful and marvelous husky heroes!
Please read each tab carefully, guests are required to sign a tour confirmation regarding this information when reserving a program with Snowy Owl Sled Dog Tours. All guests participating in our programs will also be required to read, understand, and sign our liability waiver.
If you cancel your group within 14 days of your tour, you will forfeit half of your 50% deposit. If you cancel within seven days of your tour, you will be charged the full amount of the tour program reserved. You will also receive full reimbursement of all deposits if we must cancel for any reason (due to weather conditions for example). We accept company cheques, Visa, MasterCard and when making your reservation in person, debit card or cash (Canadian currency only.) Please be advised that debit credit cards are not accepted when making your reservation over the phone as you are required to choose options (debit/credit) as well as enter a pin.
Individual reservations can be cancelled before 48 hours of the tour. If a cancellation is made within 48 hours of the scheduled tour, we retain the full amount of the tour cost.
We will be in full operation unless the temperatures are colder than -25C, taking the wind chill factor into consideration in the Canmore area. Guests at this point will have the option to cancel or reschedule at no charge to them. We will be in full operation unless temperatures are higher than +15C. In these temperatures it can be dangerous for our huskies to run and pull. In this case Snowy Owl Sled Dog Tours has the right to cancel the tour. If either parties are involved in traffic related mishaps where they cannot reach their destination; and “Official” road closure due to avalanche hazards or poor driving conditions will be acceptable. These unpleasant events will require statements from the RCMP, towing companies, or road maintenance companies. If the roads are passable and are not officially closed by authorities we will expect guests to arrive at their scheduled meeting time. If illness is a factor, the necessary certificates will be requested from a qualified physician. Only the persons who are ill will be excused – all others must join the tour.
If we do experience any of the above listed misfortunes, cancellation will be accepted, providing all certificates are in order. In these cases a full refund of all deposits will be given to the group or the individual. Cancellations will not be accepted due to “mistakes” made on the guest’s part or of tour operators, their employees, their clients or none Snowy Owl transportation personnel, hotel employees, or clients. “Hangovers” are not an acceptable reason for cancellation.
The pre-arrangement of self driving requires maps, waivers and a detailed self driving agreement to be filled out and signed ahead of time. This also applies to late guests. Given the location of our dog sledding site and the secondary road used to access our trail head, we will not allow any guests who are already late the option to drive themselves to our dog sledding site.
